Z2K Volunteer Recognised at the Westminster Volunteer Awards

Last night Robert Kerr, a Z2K volunteer lawyer with immense experience in housing issues, was recognised at the Wetminster Volunteer Awards winning the Volunteer Impact Award which is for the contribution of a single volunteer.

Robert has been our go-to legal mind on housing matters in Westminster and all around London for the past two years. He has helped dozens of clients to obtain justice by preventing or delaying evictions, assuring families are offered homelessness assistance as well as being great source of information for other Z2K staff and volunteers.

The awards are organised by Volunteer Centre Westminster, in partnership with The Landmark Hotel in Marylebone where the award ceremony was held (pictured above). We congratulate all the winners and runners up at the ceremony for all their hard work volunteering their free time towards fantastic projects and good causes in Westminster. But of course a special congratulations goes to Robert Kerr who has made all of us at  Z2K extremely proud.

Z2K welcomes Sandeep Malhotra

Sandeep has been a volunteer with Z2K since mid April, supporting Office Manager Lilian.

Sandeep has experience working for Barnet Council, Westminster City Council and recently completed an MRes in Law last year at Birkbeck College London.

While Lilian is taking some well deserved time off, Sandeep is helping to keep the office at Grovesnor Gardens in great shape. As well as answering the phone and making sure our files are well ordered he’s been assisting with the casework management software, and has been making sure the sponsors to our recent London Legal Walk get the thank you they deserve.

Sandeep is hoping to get a job in the voluntary sector in a research or admin role, ideally for a charity involved in combating poverty or international development. He’s said that if he finds a job he still wants to continue volunteering at Z2K if he can to support the work that we do.

We are very grateful to Sandeep for his help as we are to all of our volunteers.
