Communications Volunteer

Internship Opportunity

We are looking for a Journalism student to assist our parliamentary campaigns on a voluntary basis.

The successful candidate will be able to commit to a full year, so students beginning their final year should consider if they can take on this responsibility.

Volunteers will usually work remotely but can come to the office for supervision, feedback and discussions when they prefer.

The role will require one afternoon a week and this can be at any time that fits the volunteer’s schedule.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to a number of areas including: the parliamentary process, campaigning, press, policy, research and social media. As such it will be good experience for those considering a number of careers in the media or charitable sector.

Main Duties

  • Supporting our Parliamentary Researcher
  • Media and political monitoring
  • Collating a monthly campaign email
  • Blogging and other social media activity
  • Updating the website, writing web copy
  • Promoting the website and email list
  •  Undertaking ad hoc research
  • Contribute ideas to Z2K’s communications and media strategy
